Delay analysis methodologies taught: ECCDA Level 1: IAP and CAB; Level 2: AP v AB and TSWA; Level 3: TIA.
Overview
ECCDA Level 1 programme.
The ECCDA Level 1 course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practice of construction delay analysis. The programme integrates:
- technical training in Primavera P6 for delay analysis;
- interpretation of key contract provisions;
- comprehension of legal solutions associated with contractual problems; and
- professional standards in claims management.

Who should apply.
- Basic understanding of construction project management.
- Familiarity with scheduling concepts (Primavera P6 experience desirable but not essential).
- Suitable for engineers, planners, contract administrators, early-stage delay analysts, lawyers and quantity surveyors.
- Teaching: fully independent, online study (no live classes, no fixed schedule).
Certification
(ECCDA – Level 1)
Participants who successfully complete all modules and pass an online live proctored exam are awarded the Expert Certified Construction Delay Analyst – Level 1 (ECCDA-1) qualification.
This certification recognises foundational competence in professional delay analysis and construction claims management and serves as a prerequisite for ECCDA – Level 2.
Progression: upon successful completion, candidates are eligible to progress to ECCDA Level 2 and ECCDA Level 3. All three levels are completed online through the SCCSI Learning Management System.

ECCDA Level 2 is designed for professionals who already understand the fundamentals of delay analysis and now need to apply recognised methodologies with legal and contractual rigour.
This level focuses on causation, concurrency and evidentiary robustness, bridging the gap between introductory knowledge and expert-level practice.
Through hands-on Primavera P6 workshops, interactive analytical tools and case-law-driven learning, candidates develop the skills required to analyse complex, multi-causal delays and to present defensible conclusions aligned with international best practice.

ECCDA Level 2 reflects the level of competence expected of delay analysts working on live claims, extensions of time and dispute-prone projects, while providing a strong foundation for progression to ECCDA Level 3 (Expert Level).

- Make an objective assessment of your existing qualifications and experience and apply for the certification.
- The application to join the Expert Certified Construction Delay Analyst (ECCDA) qualification scheme should be sent by email to office@sccsinternational.org.
- If your application is approved, information will be sent to you about how to commence the certification process.
Step 2
Undergo structured LMS-based training
- After your application is approved, you will be provided with access to our state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS).
- You will be required to complete all construction claims training modules in a logical and systematic manner; your progress will be monitored.
- On completion of the modules, please email office@sccsinternational.org to set a date for the exam.
Step 3
Online ECCDA exam (proctored live)
- The ECCDA (Expert Certified Construction Delay Analyst) exam comprises practical workshops on delay analysis and is held online via our partner’s proprietary certification platform.
- On passing the ECCDA exam, students are entitled to use the appropriate post-nominal letters after their names, subject to the SCCSI Code of Ethics and Terms and Conditions.

Certificate renewal: £99 per year (one annual payment for all your certifications).
Validity and recertification
How long is the ECCDA qualification valid for?
The ECCDA (Expert Certified Construction Delay Analyst) qualification must be renewed every year. To maintain your certification, you should also accumulate 30 units of Professional Development Hours (PDH) (1 unit = 1 hour) every 3 years and pay the annual renewal fee (£99).
In order to ensure the quality of your training, 15 units (out of the 30 units of PDH) must be obtained from SCCSI-approved courses. Recertification ensures that your knowledge remains current throughout your career.

Step 3
Online ECCDA exam (proctored live)
- The ECCDA (Expert Certified Construction Delay Analyst) exam is comprised of practical workshops on delay analysis. The exam will be held online via our partner’s proprietary certification platform. You can sit for the exam at a location of your choice (private/quiet/well-lit). All you need is a laptop (with a webcam, good microphone and speakers) and cable Internet access (not wifi). Minimum speed requirement: 15Mbps (Download) and 10Mbps (upload) speeds. For more information, please review “The ECCCS Online Exam” below.
- The ECCDA certification exam is monitored live (via webcam) by a professional proctor. Your ID will be checked and the exam will be recorded/scrutinised in order to ensure due compliance with international standards.
- The ECCDA certification is a closed-book exam, i.e. Students are not allowed to surf the Internet or have access to any other electronic devices and/or other documents (hard copy or electronic).
- On passing the ECCDA / Expert Certified Construction Delay Analyst exam, students will be entitled to use the appropriate post-nominal title after their name.*
